FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
SHOWS | RENTALS | LOCATION | HISTORY | CONTACT | SEATING CHART

The crown jewel of Fresno's hottest nightlife neighborhood, the Tower Theatre lends its name to an area which has been a community focus of arts and entertainment for generations.

Opened in 1939 as a 20th Century Fox Movie House the theater was restored in 1990 and reopened as a center for the performing arts. In 1992, the theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Considered to be the finest facility of its kind in California, the Tower Theatre boasts an authentic art deco theme throughout the interior and exterior. The covered foyer of Italian Terrazo, as well as the adjoining lobby with its beautiful historic Carvarts glass etching, serve as a mingling area for patrons between acts. It is also conveniently available for refreshments or concession sales.

Anchored by the theatre, the Tower District has seen a booming resurgence with many new restaurants and clubs opening within a four mile radius. The theatre is located at the central intersection of Wishon and Olive avenues, relatively close to the Fresno-Yosemite International Air Terminal, Freeway 41, Hwy 99, and major hotels.

The theatre is a 1940's moderne deco masterpiece. Located adjacent to the theatre is Pinot Wine Bar & Bistro and across the street is Roger Rocka's Dinner Theatre. Within a short walking distance are Sequoia Brewing Company, Irene's Cafe, Starbuck's Coffee, Livingstone's Bar & Grill, Grandmarie's Chicken Pie Shop, Veni Vidi Vici, Cuca's Mexican restaurant, Me-n-Ed's Pizza Parlor, The 2nd Space Theatre, and many other great Tower District dining spots.

Noferatu with Live Music by Tom Peters

Tom Peters is a composer and GRAMMY® nominated performer who specializes in creating music for silent films, performing original scores through interactive electronics and synchronized electronic soundscapes. In April 2013, he premiered his original score to the 1927 silent classic The Passion of Joan of Arc—his ninth film—at the Toronto Silent Film Festival with Joelle Morton on tenor viol. The score was featured in a radio broadcast over the CBC. His latest score to John Ford’s classic western The Iron Horse (1924) will be premiered at The Autry National Center in Los Angeles in March 2015.

Tom’s 2014 GRAMMY® nominated recording of John Cage’s The Ten Thousand Things on the MicroFest label with acclaimed pianists Aron Kallay and Vicki Ray, legendary percussionist William Winant, and a recently discovered recording of John Cage himself performing 45’ for a Speaker was the first American recording of this seminal work.

Tom is also a prolific writer and is the Aspie of The Aspie and the NT. This blog, written together with his wife Linda, documents his life on the autism spectrum as someone diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and its effect on their relationship.

Caravanserai - The Music of Santana

Saluting guitarist Carlos Santana and his iconic hit-making ensemble, Caravanserai delivers a high-energy re-creation of an actual Santana concert complete with an explosive Latin percussion section and featuring the precision guitar work of founder/leader Leo Herrera. Celebrate five decades of Santana music in this fitting tribute to the men who coined Latin-Rock and made it popular to the masses.

Rumours
A Tribute to the Music of Fleetwood Mac

Rumours - The Music of Fleetwood Mac

"While we try to stick to the classic album arrangements as much as possible, portraying the young Fleetwood Mac allows, and often requires us to stretch outside the confines of the song. As we have discovered, they rarely played a song the exact same way twice and we sometimes modify arrangements in the same way they did," says the band. While other Fleetwood Mac tributes exist, The Rumours Tribute Show excels in the fact that the members are age appropriate and fully committed to the Fleetwod Mac concept.

Y&T

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the '80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Motley Crue.
